MICHAEL L SAVAGE

Michael L. Savage, Sr., MCP, CBO, CFPS, CEI-M – currently serves on the ICC Board of Directors, and is the Director of Building Safety for Marion County, Florida. He was formerly the Chief Building Official - City of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  Mr. Savage has been in the inspection field for 24 years. He has been a plans examiner, a combination inspector, a Chief Inspector, a Chief Building Official and a Director of a Building Department. 

 

Mr. Savage owned and operated Michael L. Savage, LLC. a construction education and consulting company that provide training to Architects, Engineers, Code Officials, Inspectors and Plans Examiners. MLS, LLC is certified in eight (8) states to provide CEU’s for contractors and code officials.

Mr. Savage holds 42 International Code Council certifications, including Master Code Professional and Certified Building Official. In addition, he is a NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and IAEI Certified Electrical Inspector - Master.

Mr. Savage is a licensed/certified Building Code Administrator (BCA) in the State of Florida, as well as a licensed Standard Inspector, Plans Examiner, and Residential Plans Examiner. Mr. Savage is also a licensed Master Electrical Inspector, as well as plumbing, and mechanical inspector in the State of Maryland, and a qualified electrical inspector in the State of Delaware. Mr. Savage is also licensed as a building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspector in the State of New Mexico.

Mr. Savage is actively involved in the code making processes and holds committee memberships with such bodies as ICC, NFPA and UL, and is a governmental member of the International Code Council (ICC). Mr. Savage was the President of the Central New Mexico Chapter of Building Officials, a chapter of ICC, as well as the IAEI NM Chapter President. Mr. Savage was a founding member of ICC Region XI, and member of the Development Committee and Past President and Executive Council Member of Region XI. Mr. Savage was appointed to the ICC-Evaluation Services Board of Managers in 2015, he was the first Chair of the ICC Compliance Code Action Committee (CCAC) and the ICC Code Correlation Committee (CCC). He is currently the ICC Board Liaison to the International Accreditation Service.
